OUR STORY

In April 2024, Rob Hasler ran the fastest marathon of his life, finishing in under three hours. Six months later, in October 2024, Rob was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Running has always been a big part of the friendship between Rob, Paul and Alex. After Rob’s diagnosis, we were determined to find a way to keep doing what we love together: getting out on the road and taking part in races side by side.

Our original plan was to hire a specialist running chair so Rob could take part in the Leeds Marathon with Paul and Alex pushing. After discovering how difficult it was to hire one, we launched a fundraiser to buy a chair ourselves.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of so many people, we raised the money. On 10 May 2026, the three of us took part in the Leeds Marathon together. Coincidentally, this was the first year that there had been a specific MND wave, where 10 people living with MND and their teams set off together.

Crossing that start line together was unforgettable. It was emotional, powerful and full of joy, not just for us, but for everyone who supported us to get there. It proved something we felt strongly from the beginning: everyone should have the opportunity to experience the atmosphere, connection and achievement that comes from taking part in a running event.

That’s why we started Give Us A Push.
